Elephants at Guruvayur


The elephant in the Guruvayur temple are a unique feature. No other temple in kerala, and for that matter perhaps, throughout India, has so many elephants brought to it by the devotees as their offering. And some of these elephants, during their life-time, were the greatest, the grandest and the most adored by lovers of elephants and also marvelously magnificent and kingly in their mien. Of them, the names of Guruvayur Padmanabhan and Gajarajan Kesavan are worth mentioning.
